This relatively young domaine was established in 2005 by brothers Marc and Alex Bachelet along with their father Jean François and Uncle Monnot. Situated in the village of Dezize-lès-Maranges, southwest of Santenay, the domaine consists of 10ha of owned vineyards as well as a further 10 on long-term lease, covering the appellations of Santenay, Maranges and Puligny Montrachet. This is a star domaine on the rise. The vineyards are farmed organically with strict de-budding to reduce the yields, whilst the winemaking philosophy is very much one of non-intervention. No battonage, only a small use of new oak, with the introduction of larger oak barrels in 2012, and long ageing in the barrel which gives great stability to the wines. We are very taken with the white wines of this domaine which offer great depth and finesse.
The vineyard contains ancient vines, up to 90 years old on 1 parcel. Maranges has become more popular in recent years and this wine helps to explain why.
