Domaine Bachelet-Monnot

This relatively young domaine was established in 2005 by brothers Marc and Alex Bachelet along with their father Jean François and Uncle Monnot. Situated in the village of Dezize-lès-Maranges, southwest of Santenay, the domaine consists of 10ha of owned vineyards as well as a further 10 on long-term lease, covering the appellations of Santenay, Maranges and Puligny Montrachet. This is a star domaine on the rise. The vineyards are farmed organically with strict de-budding to reduce the yields, whilst the winemaking philosophy is very much one of non-intervention.

It is rich, ripe and jammy on the palate, soothing and fruit filled. The tannins are chalky and the raspberry freshness is exquisite. A perfectly balanced wine. Sumptuous.
Vinification sees 20% whole bunch ferment and aging in 25% new oak for one year.
