The term ‘practising organic’ refers to winemakers and viticulturists who produce grapes that are grown where the viticulture is at one with nature, without the use of synthetic fertilizers or chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides, but who do not seek the official organic certification required to label their wines as ‘organic’. Such winemakers have often carried on the viticulture of their forebears and see no reason to pay money, simply in order to claim organic status.
