Lafarge is one of the very best in Volnay and this is a wine of great distinction, beautiful in every way. Produced from 2.6 ha of vines which were planted as far back as 1932 and no new oak used.

Domaine Michel Lafarge

This 10ha domaine produces some of the finest wines in Volnay and has been farmed biodynamically since 1999. It is run by Michel Lafarge and his son Frédéric, who farm their vineyards using biodynamic principles. The Pinot Noir characteristics are show cased brilliantly at this domaine. Very little new oak is used, only around 5%, with barrels between 2 and 5 years preferred. The style is alluring, complex and harmonious and is exactly what one looks for in great Volnay
Fragrant wild flower aromas seduce you and the mouthfeel is elegant yet provocative, with hedgerow fruits, cranberry and a little damson.
A great match for roasted chicken breast with glazed parsnips and carrots.

Decanter June 2024, “Volnay’s New Generation”, 94 points: “This impressive wine is putatively the ‘regular’ Volnay (rather than the 2017 Vendanges Selectionnees bottling), but it is a lovely expression of the village, with a compelling delicious fruit character of black plums touched with exotic spice and earth. Supple and approachable, it’s beginning to open nicely, and there is enough substance to carry it to a complex, lingering finish. The grapes are from six sites spread throughout the village, gently destemmed and fermented before ageing in mainly used casks. Delightful. Biodynamic.”
