Château Cantemerle

Château Cantemerle is a winery in the Haut-Médoc appellation of the Bordeaux wine region of France, in the commune of Macau. Cantemerle has been on an upward curve for several years and this wonderful 2020 shows the benefits of major investment. The nose is intense, forward and youthful, with deeply chocolaty tones over arching the bold lick of ripe Cassis from the Cabernet influence. As well as fresh raspberry coulis, a jacket of sweet cedar oak dominates at the moment, but this will integrate gently, and the resultant wine will have both depth and composure. A gentle, yet brooding giant of a wine. This is first class.
Great paired with duck breast with bacon, cabbage and balsamic dressing.
12 months in barrel – 40% new, 40% 1 year and 20% 2 year followed by a further 4 months in vat.
