Domaine Etienne Sauzet

Gerard Boudot, son-in-law of the late Etienne Sauzet, is one of the star winemakers of this appellation, now supported by his daughter Emilie and her husband, Benoit Riffault. This small, 8 hectare, bio-dynamically farmed domaine, produces wines of great definition and style and are highly sought after. The wine is intense on the nose, ripe, opulent and offering sweet peach and mango characters, thick inner core and balancing acidity. This is a taut, lean and vibrant dry white, wonderfully crisp and showing tremendous complexity.
Hand-picked, fermented in tank then transferred into 10% new oak, with the remaining barrels 1-5 years old. The yield was high at 50hl/ha, but Benoit explained that it was unusual not to have to discard much, even though the grapes were sorted several times in both vineyard and winery.
