Situated adjacent to the Meursault 1er Cru of Les Perrières at almost the highest slope of Puligny. The soil in Champ-Canet is just 40-60cm deep – clay over limestone with oxidised red clay and limestone chippings.

Domaine Etienne Sauzet

Gerard Boudot, son-in-law of the late Etienne Sauzet, is one of the star winemakers of this appellation, now supported by his daughter Emilie and her husband, Benoit Riffault. This small, 8 hectare, bio-dynamically farmed domaine, produces wines of great definition and style and are highly sought after. The resulting wine seems more fulsome, riper and has a higher concentration of quince, Fuji apple and white peach flavours. The 2023 wine is highly complex with higher levels of acidity and energy. Very taut, almost lean but I love its brooding nature.
Hand-picked, fermented in tank then transferred into 20% new oak, with the remaining barrels 1-4 years old and matured for 12 months. The soil is oxidised earth, limestone and sits close to an old quarry, hence the intense minerality.
