Coriole Vineyards

Coriole was founded by Hugh and Molly Lloyd in 1967. The Estate is still owned by the Lloyd family and is now managed by Mark and Paul Lloyd. The Estate is situated in the undulating hills of the densely planted McLaren Vale region just within sight of the sea and less than an hour from Adelaide. The original farmhouses were built in 1860 and are now the epicentre of the garden and cellar door at the winery. The original vineyards were planted immediately after the first world war. Shiraz is the great tradition of McLaren Vale going back over 150 years, and is the major variety planted on the estate. Coriole was founded in 1967 and the first wine released was the 1970 Claret (Shiraz). Coriole has been an Australian pioneer of Sangiovese and Italian varieties since 1985.

The 2021 Coriole Songbird Cabernet is highly aromatic, with aromas of mulberry, with blackcurrant, bay leaf and cherry ripe. The palate has lovely generosity and crunchy textural tannins. The palate shows flavours of cassis, red berries, bitter chocolate and vanilla. This is a bright, playful and modern cabernet which will remain fresh in the bottle for some time.
