Navarra borders the prime areas of Rioja in northern Spain and this fruity and open red is similar to a Joven Rioja. The vineyards lie on high rolling plains of eroded clay, limestone and marl, with beds of pebbles that aid drainage. The grapes are machine picked in the early morning, with little bruising and minimal oxidation before de-stemming and cooling prior to warm fermenting in large steel tanks. Pumping over is twice a day to give even extraction of colour and fruit as well as balanced and soft tannins. No oak is used, to preserve the naturally bright and vibrant red fruits and soft spicy character of the Tempranillo.
