Cave de Buxy

Established in 1931, the Caves de Vignerons de Buxy is based in the Côte Chalonnaise, 46km south of Beaune. The vineyards are managed by 120 families who are rewarded for the quality of their grapes rather than the quantity that they produce. Strict viticultural guidelines are followed with a programme of continual vineyard assessments. It is very rare that one can equate Burgundy with affordability as well as quality; however this top Cave Co-operative can certainly lay this claim.

Beautiful ripe raspberry and blackberry scented fruit aromas, it is soft, open and easy drinking in style with layers of fruit, and balanced by a nice freshness that gives the wine elegance and charm.
100% Pinot Noir, sourced from the better vineyards spread throughout the warm Chalonnaise appellation. A proportion comes from around Givry, Rully and Mercurey. Machine harvested in the main, with around 20% hand picked. The grapes are fully destemmed and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with a small proportion (3%) aged in oak barrels. The wine lies on its fine lees for several weeks following ferment, before the wine is racked from tank and married with the oak aged element.
