These vineyards are situated on the Vosne-Romanée side of Nuits-Saint-Georges and thereby take influences from both villages – the linearity of Nuits-Saint-Georges and the seductive succulence of Vosne-Romaneé. In 2021 Grivot lost 50% of his grapes in Nuits, with the grapes 100% destemmed.

Along with Domaine Tollot Beaut this 15 ha domaine was one of the first to bottle its own wines, back in the 1930’s. It is now in the hands of the 5th generation, Etienne Grivot, who produces some of the most classic wines in the whole of Burgundy, with an average vine age of around 45 - 50 years old. The colour is dark and deep, the nose forward and intense, suggesting smoked raspberries, mulled spice and cherry. The palate is bursting with red and black fruits, cherry liquour, oriental spices and subtle oak. The tannins are plush, ripe and hold the wine perfectly. This is a lovely, almost pre-expression of Pinot Noir – powerful yet seductive at the same time.
Great with roast leg of lamb with a garlic pesto.
100% destemmed. Aged for 15 months in 20% new oak.
