Theo Merlin is now chief winemaker at this top family estate, and the wines continue to be made organically with little intervention. Decent yields in 2022 averaging 45-50 hl/ha were the reward for waiting to pick, with the first grapes harvested on the 1st September. They were lucky, the day after they finished picking a large hail storm wiped out many peoples last few days of cropping.

Olivier Merlin

Domaine Olivier Merlin is owned by Corinne and Olivier Merlin, who settled in the Mâcon area in 1987. Today it extends over more than 15 hectares in the Mâconnais region and in the Moulin à Vent appellation, with 10,5 hectares owned and another 4,5 hectares worked under a tenancy agreement. Aware of the importance of ensuring a smooth succession on the domaine, they are delighted to announce that their two sons have now joined the family business. Lively, vibrant and forward with a bright colour and red fruit fragrancy. This is a wine that has bags of sweet red fruits, a rounded and gentle style, yet body and texture to allow it to age for up to 7 years
Goes great with mushroom butter chicken with jerusalum artichokes.
The fruit is harvested from 4 different plots, with 40% whole cluster and 60% destemmed. Steel tank fermented then transferred into used oak foudres, Olivier produces wines that are so seductive in style, fragrant, fresh and alluring.
