A white grape from northern Portugal, Viosinho is rarely used in the production of varietal wines, mostly being used in Port production. White Ports range from dry aromatic wines perfect for aperitifs to heavy, dark and sweet wines good for drinking with dessert. Viosinho grapes are acidic and sweet, which is why they are used in Port blends so frequently, as they can take away the astringency of some of the other grapes used in a blend.
