The seasonal small batch releases showcase the signature Lochlea style in four different ways each year. As a working farm, these expressions tie-in with exactly what is happening here at that time of year. In this Ploughing Edition (Second Crop) for 2023 – the fourth in a new set of four limited editions – they have used 100% ex-Islay Barrels. The main differences from Ploughing Edition (First Crop) this year are the focus on solely 200 litre barrels, and further ageing in their on-site warehouse.

Lochlea is an independent family owned farm and distillery based in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. At Lochlea Distillery they have been quietly distilling and maturing their single malt Scotch whisky using barley that they grow and harvest on the farm. Since their inaugural whisky launch in January 2022, they have attracted a dynamic, experienced team, drawn from some of the best-known global whisky brands.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of fresh green apple and signature Lochlea cereal. The palate has succulent fruit, freshly cut summer hay leading to a finish with flavours of sea salt with lingering peaty embers.
