Château Rouget

This Pomerol property was purchased by the Labruyère family in 1992. Located in the northern part of the appellation, located near such famous names as Eglise-Clinet and Petrus, the 18 ha of vines stretch across the gentle slopes of the Pomerol plateau. Unusual for Bordeaux is the practice of whole bunch ferment in the vinification process. The wines from the property get better year on year.
Plump, elegant and smoky, dialled down from the chewy, oak dominated wines of previous vintages. This Rouget is elegance personified, but with the signature Pomerol notes of lush sweet mocha, cherry and plum fruit, cut through with a refined acidity and touch of pepper and liquorice. Generous, rich and rounded.
Delicious with rare roast beef with seasonal vegetables and yorkshire pudding.
Yields of 30hl/ha, aged for 16 months in 30% new oak barrels. Alc 14%.
