Sauvignon Gris is a mutation of Sauvignon Blanc which, rather than producing the typical, bright green grapes of the Sauvignon Blanc vine, produces berries with a rosy, pale pink colour. However, other than a slightly more subtle, delicate texture and aroma, that is about the extent to which it differs from its Blanc twin. Though originally from France, the grape has enjoyed great success in South America, particularly in Chile and in some parts of Uruguay. Often with a sweet flavour and citrus notes, Sauvignon Gris can make some elegant, enjoyable wines.
