One of the more popular grapes in South-West France, Petit Manseng is a white grape which makes sweet wines with a low acidity and rich texture. Due to the late-ripening nature of the grape, in many Manseng vineyards, the grapes may not be harvested until late in the year, with grapes harvested in late Autumn and even as late as early December making excellent sweet dessert wines. The thick skin and loosely bunched nature of the grapes allows for this to happen without risking Botrytis, or Noble Rot.
