Sicily’s most widely planted grape, Catarratto makes sweet white wines with a low acidity and dry texture. Often referred to as ‘Catarratto Bianco’ because of the vibrant white-green colour of the skin, high-yielding harvests are common, partly due to the ideal climate and terroir of Sicily. Rolling hills, sea breezes and a hot, dry temperature make the growing conditions in Sicily ideal for viticulture. The terroir is also evident in the wine’s flavour, with occasional sharp citrus notes and a crisp, lemon aroma.
