Wines from Priorat

Surrounded almost completely by Montsant, Priorat is very small compared to other Spanish regions, being only 1900 hectares in total area, but the region’s terroir and low yield mean that it is one of only two regions in Spain to qualify as a DOCa, the highest order of classification for Spanish wine regions, with the other being Rioja. Grapes grown include Garnacha, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon, with the close proximity to the French being evident in the region’s wine production.
